Reading the forums and doing my own research, I feel like there is not adequate feedback from the officials on what’s being fixed on the FAB marketplace. It was all cryptic and mysterious even before it launched, and it continues to be after.
There are a lot more issues reported than the few that officials addressed here on the forums. It’s unfair to sellers and buyers. Please be transparent, make a real list of reported issues, and update us accordingly and frequently because we deserve this.
For example, here it says, "2. We are fine-tuning Search to improve the accuracy of results.
UPDATE 10/23: Search adjustments have been made to improve the relevancy of results, and additional adjustments are under consideration."
What fine-tuning? The search engine is chaos and still is. You can’t have people who don’t understand game development working on search engine tuning. They probably think the results are as they should be and don’t really understand it as buyers and sellers do.
You shouldn’t have 2 days since your last post in that section when there is so much stuff unanswered and reported. Wake up, FAB is currently a disappointment and a downgrade from the Unreal Marketplace. Once fixed accordingly, it could prove to be good, but keep us informed. 100% revenue for sellers is not going to cut it because we can’t earn anything right now. I haven’t had a sale in 5 days, and it will continue that way, it seems, and it has not happened in months so far.
I agree, as a seller, the Epic Games silence about this situation is really frustrating.
The massive backlash for the lack of review texts, Q&A and wishlist features is very evident on the unreal forums, reddit and even in the comments section of official release announcement on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9E4QgRiZc4
As a software engineer it is even more frustrating, migrating reviews, questions and wishlists from the Unreal Marketplace it is a trivial task from the technical point of view.
The lack or transparency and proper response only makes sellers and clients to lost trust on Epic Games.
For any Epic employees reading this post, please bring this situation to your manager. Pleople need to be heard, feeback is one of the most important factors to provide a good service. Without review texts and the Q&A section, FAB hindered the ability of responsible sellers to gather feedback from clients.
Hi folks. We have a running list of known issues that I update at least once a week, as well as release notes that I began publishing earlier this week and that I will update whenever new public releases are made.
@skfabby appreciate that, but this seems incredibly understaffed. Fab took on the role of prior vendors, which were high end professional tools.
Quixel had human and direct support responses 48 hours via email.
Fab support via email re-directs back to forums with an automated bot response, and it seems to be just you.
How is this sustainable? 3 weeks in it’s pretty clear things are not being implemented at the speed the industry expects. Hoping for a huge shift with Fab taking us more seriously.
@Abby: What is Epic’s current stance on bringing back Q&A and written reviews? It’s clear that many customers want these features restored. People have allready started making forum post for support and reviews, nothing worst than band aid solution on a so called high end platform. I’m personally holding off on making purchases until they return. We can just contact sellers directly using their email addresses instead of buying through the platform at this point. Better transparency and communication from Epic would help us understand the situation. Unfortunately, the current bug fix notes and known issues documentation lack sufficient detail.
@skfabby Transparency… A little more transparency would be appreciated. Tell us honestly if dynamic-loading pages / infinite-scrollbar is here to stay… Offer a hint at least. Will there ever be another option for viewing ‘My Library’ (vault) / ‘Custom Searches’???
Also, what’s the new URL for hosting Bi-Monthly FREE packs… The previous link is old. There’s some temp link floating around (hosted on a third-party blog) that expires on 11/19. But overall 5 packs per month was actually very generous. So why break it?
I think that this might be it, but I’m not sure if it’s actually permanent.
Well, at the rate things are going, we should hopefully get at least 6 free assets per month. But if it’s the 3 and 2 thing, then it’s likely just part of an new marketing strategy
If I knew, I would tell you. Recently pagination was requested by the community - the team is looking into it and assessing whether it’s something we’re going to add to the roadmap.
The link that @ScamBot45 shared (https://www.fab.com/blade/0691ff19-b259-44e0-ad3b-093a53010f46) should do the trick for the moment. I don’t think it’s permanent, but I’ve requested that we have a permanent URL for the limited-time free content, so stay tuned. And there should be at least 6 free products per month (3 and 3, since it’s a 2x/month schedule), but there may be occasions on which there are more than 6.
@skfabby
Sounds like the team is undecided. If so, maybe reporting 2 bugs related to dynamic-loading would help…
Bug Report:
This sample search link spans about 100 pages. On at least 10 occasions while scrolling through it, the dynamic-loading went rogue. It kept getting caught in an oscillating loop (webpage spasm) displaying two or even three different pages over each other at the same time. At best this is a glitch, at worst its a full-on bug caused by dynamic-loading pages. Anyone else run into this same thing with FAB dynamic-loaded pages? (Tested w/ Brave).
With dynamic-loaded webpages, one really big downside is the ‘unloading’ part. This is a serious problem. Why? Epic are breaking a core aspect of every web browser. Namely, the ability to PRINT. It was really helpful in the past to be able to print-out the entire VAULT to PDF. And to print custom-searches to PDF to share between team members. An offline searchable PDF is especially helpful when MyLibrary / Vault is absolutely huge (1000’s of products). Appreciate if you could share this feedback with the team and add it to the known issues list as well. Thanks a lot Abby.
I think that 6 per month is pretty fair. But keep in mind that there’s been quite an bit of confusion over the initial release, though.
Seriously, I start experiencing some stuttering issues after it loads an few dozen listings on my tablet. On the old marketplace, it had no problem with an 100 listings; but with Fab, it starts acting weird when it goes past that number
Frankly I am not really concerned about “free stuff” as serious devs are not just here for giveaways. It is a nice feature but is not one of the pressing issues that makes the store unusable.
I do not want to be rude or antagonistic @skfabby so apologies, I really don’t mean for any of this to come across that way…
But the number of stolen/IP-infringing assets is an actual legal problem (which has caused other devs to have to remove their games from platforms like Steam in the past), and more new ones keep being approved. It is extremely frustrating to have no comment on this while also seeing new ones still being added to the store every day.
