July #UE4JAM, July 23-26th, Theme: ROCKET AND ROLL

Hi, we are SyGiFox, here to present you Razrolio!

What would happen if the most famous music stars of all times were to fight for a piece of paradise? Rockets, rockets and more rockets!
Elvis will make explode in a thousand little pieces scattering through the galaxy…
Bob will immerse himself in the smoking trail of his huge rocket…
And you? What will you do to dominate this planet?
Who will you choose to be your pawn?
Will you hide in the darkest corners or will you stand high and proud in the middle of the fight?
The answer to this and many more questions (such as, but not limited to: “Why do we exist?”, “Is there extraterrestrial life?”, “Are the developers tired of not sleeping for days?”) will be found only in one place… RAZROLIO!

Description:
The objective of the game is to shoot rockets and destroy your friends, while trying not to blow yourself up! So select your favourite star and rocket on!
The programmer of the game was probably drunk when creating the movement component of the pawns… so he decided it’d be a good idea to make the rotation of the gun dependent on the movement of the character. Ewwwww!
Crystals explode when hit and you will die if a rocket detonates too close to your favourite musician.

Known Issues:
Currently there’s no official server-controlled ending to the game. Just restart by pressing “R” on the host.
No NAT punch-through supported as of now; you will have to port forward port 7777 to host (or just try and use Hamachi).

Controls:
WASD: Move (Watch out, you’re gonna rotate as well in the meantime!)
Left Mouse: Fire Rocket
Right Mouse: Manually Detonate Last Rocket
F: Toggle Light
R: Restart Level (When playing from the server machine)
QE (or arrow buttons): Cycle Characters in Character Selection Screen

Man these are some AWESOME submissions!

Thanks for all the submissions! Played through them all! Unfortunately didn’t have a player 2 for some of the local multiplayer stuff.

Thanks for the stream , it was entertaining as always man!

Awesome stream , thanks for it. Submissions was impressive! I’m sorry you can’t try Samurai Rocket may be another time (we will try to finish the network part. It will be easier even if it will take a while).

Hey everybody, sorry about all that! Needless to say, we got a loooot of entries and I’ll be expanding my mailbox size. If you got blocked, send the info again and I’ll have space now. I didn’t expect to have my inbox fill up so fast, but I guess it’s a good problem to have.

I don’t get it, aren’t we suppose to send a PM? :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, I’m asking that who got blocked due to it being overfilled to resubmit their info. It just got filled up because there is a pm limit. I fixed that, so I have space now.

Hey . When will the winners be announced for this Jam?

I guess we’re much too late but that’s not a reason not to publish the game, is it?

I really like the stuff that I saw (I didn’t personally play anything yet). I can probably make my game and just post it here later for you to check out  I couldn’t make it in the contest, but the theme is fun!

This Thursday! Please come by then!

Hey guys! Well, I didn’t get the game ready last night, but here’s some info on it.

The game was supposed to be Star Wars trench run meets Star Fox barrel roll on rail game play.

This is what we managed to get done

As of this post, the game is still uploading to this folder

Controls :
Horizontal Adjustment: A, D, and / or Mouse X
Vertical Adjustment: W, S, and / or Mouse Y
Throttle: + and -
Fire Laser: Left Mouse Button

This jam was the first time I’ve ever opened up Unreal Engine. I’ve been using unity for the past few years. I gotta say, I really like Unreal and will totally continue using it. Lot’s of fun!

Lol, that would be me. Luckily, our policy is to fullscreen with alt-enter for capture.

Slizzard, I love this! Keep working on it!!!

First Jam ever. Sorry for being way too late, was working and had problems with cooking yesterday. I don’t mind if it’s clearly too late for submission.

Description : You have to defend your base against a horde of ‘aliens’. You can enclose incoming rockets within bubbles to smash the incoming soldiers with enclosed rockets for more points. Stay alive and don’t let anyone through.

Controls :
Movement : WASD and Mouse
Shoot: Left-Mouse

Notes: Didn’t have enough time for polish and to reduce bugs and the file size is enormous (but at least I know it for the next time), just began on sunday, code is quite messy as well. Unfortunately the game doesn’t end the way it was intended, didn’t manage to fix the bugs in time. Sorry for being late, the cooking gave me errors, if I’m clearly too late, I won’t mind, the jam was fun.

So, even though the Jam is over, some stuff was bothering me in our game, so I decided to keep working a bit on it. If you wanna test it out, here is the link to the latest version: Microsoft OneDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Online.

Changes:

  • Fixed Missing Icon Textures for Powerups
  • Imporved Rocket Movement. Enemies now move straight to their target, which makes it much more important for you to stay near the attacked cities and defend them. This makes it a lot less chaotic, but also a bunch more difficult if you ask me

I totally am!

Posted some video…

Wow, this looks so polished. Really impressive for a 3day project.
