Join-in-progress Players can see damage numbers on Custom NPCs despite HUD Controller setting

Summary

Join-in-Progress players can see Fortnite damage numbers on Custom NPCs even when ‘Show Damage Numbers’ is disabled in the HUD Controller Device.

The issue appears only in Private Version/Playtest and affects Join-in-Progress players (approximately 50% reproduction rate).

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a Custom NPC.
  2. Place a HUD Controller Device and set Show Damage Numbers to No.
  3. Publish a Private Version (or launch a Playtest).
  4. Join the running game using Join in Progress.
  5. Damage a Custom NPC.

Expected Result

No Fortnite damage numbers should be displayed because Show Damage Numbers is set to No in the HUD Controller Device.

Observed Result

Join-in-Progress players can see the default Fortnite damage numbers when damaging Custom NPCs, even though damage numbers are disabled in the HUD Controller Device. The issue appears to occur approximately 50% of the time.

Additional Notes

We use a custom damage system and our own damage number UI. Because of this bug, Join-in-Progress players see the default Fortnite damage numbers in addition to our custom UI.
Furthermore, the displayed Fortnite damage values are the default Fortnite damage values, which do not match the actual damage dealt in our game. This results in incorrect information being shown only to Join-in-Progress players.

The status of FORT-1127446 changed to ‘Needs Triage’. We are routing this to the appropriate team for investigation.
