Summary
Hey, I’m having an issue with Join In Progress (JIP) spawning in my UEFN Bedwars map and I can’t figure out what’s causing it.
Setup:
- 12 pregame spawn pads (working fine)
- 12 JIP spawn pads assigned to Team Index 5, always enabled
- One Team & Inventory device per team, each set to Spawn Location: Spawn Pads
- Island Settings: Join in Progress Behavior = Spawn Immediately, Spawn Location = Spawn Pads
- Lobby is surrounded by box barriers (no top barrier)
The problem:
When a player joins mid-game (2-3 minutes in), they spawn high in the air in skydive mode with glider redeploy, as if they’re dropping from the Battle Bus. They are correctly assigned to Team 5 (visible in the overview map). On respawn after dying, they spawn correctly on the spawn pad with no issues. The problem is only on the initial JIP spawn.
In the editor playtest, JIP works perfectly fine — the joining player goes straight to the correct spawn pad.
What I’ve tried:
- Confirmed team index 5 on both the spawn pads and the Team & Inventory device
- Confirmed spawn pads are always enabled
- Confirmed the joining player is on Team 5
- Tried setting Respawn Alive Players to True on the Team & Inventory device
The skydive behavior suggests the game finds zero valid spawn pads for the JIP player, but I can’t figure out why since everything appears correctly configured. Has anyone run into this or know what’s causing it?

Steps to Reproduce
Create a UEFN map with a pregame lobby and a gameplay area
Place 12 JIP spawn pads assigned to Team Index 5, always enabled
Set up a Team & Inventory device for Team 5 with Spawn Location set to Spawn Pads
Set Island Settings to Join in Progress Behavior = Spawn Immediately, Spawn Location = Spawn Pads
Launch the game with at least one player
Wait for the game phase to start and the gameplay to be running for 2-3 minutes
Have a second player join the session mid-game
Expected Result
They spawn on their team’s spawn pad
Observed Result
They spawn in the air
