Summary
With Custom Items and Inventory enabled and Island Settings → Eliminated Player’s Items set to Keep, non-equipped hotbar consumables (Medkits, Shockwave Grenades, etc.) become permanently unusable after a player dies and respawns. The item is not dropped and not deleted — it turns invisible, cannot be used, cannot be dropped, and the inventory slot stays occupied for the rest of the match. Weapons in the same hotbar are unaffected.

Steps to Reproduce
Create a new, empty UEFN project (no Verse, no custom devices required)
Island Settings → enable Custom Items and Inventory
Island Settings → set Eliminated Player’s Items to Keep
Launch a session and give the player a weapon and a stack of consumables (e.g. Medkits and Shockwave Grenades)
Eliminate the player and let them respawn
Expected Result
All kept items, including consumables, return usable after respawn.
Observed Result
Weapons return normally and work. Consumables return as dead slots: invisible, not usable, not droppable. The slot remains occupied permanently, so the player cannot place a new item there and effectively loses that inventory space for the rest of the match.
Platform(s)
PC, Windows
Additional Notes
Reproducible in a new empty project: Yes
