Summary
A few days ago, we released the Treasure Tycoon map, which we tested on PS5 consoles, mobile devices, and PCs. Everything was working fine, but when players with older devices (Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Switch, and some mobile devices) started joining, they experienced long loading times. After reaching the loading screen, the game would return them to the lobby after a few minutes, and nothing would happen.
We checked how other maps performed and were able to join them normally using these older devices.
One difference we noticed when joining other maps was that during loading, a message saying “Preparing Shaders” would appear. However, when loading into our map, this message did not show up.
We tried multiple solutions, including cleaning up the code, removing all assets from the map, enabling/disabling streaming, and many other fixes, but the issue persisted. We tested both the private and test versions of the map using older Android devices and PlayStation 4. Sometimes, we were able to load in, but the game would display 999 HP, and no UI elements would load. Shortly after, we would get kicked back to the lobby with an error message stating that a network error had occurred.
