Islands not entering New/Updated or relevant Discover surfaces after updates for over a year

Summary

Hi Epic team,

I’m Lanzeh, creator of multiple Fortnite islands, including GALACTIC ASSAULT TEAM BATTLE.

I already replied in this related thread about FORT-1093850:

However, I’m creating this as a separate issue because my case appears to be long-running and affects multiple islands.

For more than a year, my islands have been live and searchable, but after publishing updates they do not seem to receive meaningful visibility in New, Updated, or the expected Discover testing flow. Updating maps has almost no noticeable effect on exposure.

Example island:

GALACTIC ASSAULT TEAM BATTLE
Island code: 1269-0049-8905
Creator: Lanzeh
Recently updated: May 13, 2026
Current public version: v90
Theme/type: Star Wars 10v10 PvP / team battle experience

In addition, this island does not seem to appear in the Star Wars games / Star Wars experiences list, even though it is live, searchable, recently updated, and clearly aligned with Star Wars content.

I understand that placement in curated rows is not guaranteed. The issue is not about demanding a specific ranking position. The concern is that my islands appear to receive little or no initial visibility or consideration across multiple relevant Discover surfaces after updates.

This makes the issue look broader than normal performance ranking. It may be related to Discover indexing, island classification, account-level visibility, update visibility, or Star Wars collection eligibility.

Could Epic please check whether my islands/account are correctly entering the normal Discover testing / New & Updated pipeline, and whether GALACTIC ASSAULT TEAM BATTLE is correctly classified and eligible for Star Wars-related Discover surfaces?

I can provide additional island codes, publish dates, analytics screenshots, and update history if helpful.

Thanks.

Publishing

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Publish a new island from my creator account, or publish an update to an existing live island.

  2. Wait for the island/update to be approved and become publicly available.

  3. Search for the island by name and/or island code to confirm that it is live and searchable.

  4. Check Discover surfaces where a new or recently updated island should normally receive at least some initial testing or visibility, such as New, Updated, Recently Updated, genre/category rows, or relevant themed rows.

  5. Monitor Creator Portal analytics after publishing, especially impressions, Discover impressions, and early visibility after the update.

  6. Repeat the same process across multiple islands from the same creator account.

Examples:

  • GALACTIC ASSAULT TEAM BATTLE — 1269-0049-8905
  • SNIPER WARS ARENA | Precision Battle — 5522-2441-9658
  • TRENCH WARFARE - Team Battle — 0151-1173-5095

Expected Result

After publishing a new island or updating an existing island, the island should enter the normal Discover testing / visibility pipeline.

I understand that ranking, placement, and long-term performance are not guaranteed. However, I would expect a new or updated island to receive at least some initial exposure or testing, such as the expected Discover test mentioned in Epic documentation, where islands may receive around 50,000 impressions during an initial test window.

At minimum, the island should receive some measurable initial visibility for a few minutes or some initial Discover impressions after publication/update, assuming it is approved, live, searchable, and compliant.

Observed Result

For more than a year, my islands have been live and searchable, but publishing updates or even creating new maps does not result in meaningful initial visibility.

The islands do not appear to receive the expected initial Discover test of around 50,000 impressions. In many cases, they do not even seem to receive a few minutes of meaningful exposure.

Updating the maps has almost no noticeable effect. The content remains searchable by code, but it does not seem to enter New, Updated, Recently Updated, or other relevant Discover visibility surfaces in a meaningful way.

This has happened across multiple islands, not only one map.

Examples:

  • GALACTIC ASSAULT TEAM BATTLE — 1269-0049-8905
  • SNIPER WARS ARENA | Precision Battle — 5522-2441-9658
  • TRENCH WARFARE - Team Battle — 0151-1173-5095

In the case of GALACTIC ASSAULT TEAM BATTLE, the island is also a Star Wars-themed team battle experience, but it does not seem to appear in relevant Star Wars games / Star Wars experiences surfaces either.

Because of this, every update feels like wasted work. I have tried updating titles, thumbnails, descriptions, tags, gameplay, and other presentation elements, but the islands still do not appear to receive meaningful initial visibility or testing.

Platform(s)

Fortnite Discover / UEFN / Creator Portal

Observed from PC and general Fortnite Discover browsing. The issue appears to be related to Discover visibility/indexing rather than a device-specific gameplay bug.

Additional Notes

I also replied in the related forum thread about FORT-1093850:

Hi Epic team,

Following up on this report.

Could this please be reviewed and assigned a FORT tracking number, or linked publicly to FORT-1093850 if it is considered the same issue?

This report includes multiple affected islands, reproduction steps, expected vs observed behavior, and examples showing that both new and updated islands from my account do not appear to receive meaningful initial Discover testing or visibility.

Thanks.

EDIT 15th May 2026

Adding a follow-up:

I also contacted Epic Support, but they confirmed that this type of UEFN / Discover report is outside Player Support’s scope and that the correct place to follow up is the Epic Developer Community forums.

Could this report please be reviewed here and assigned a FORT tracking number, or publicly linked to FORT-1093850 if it is considered related?

Thanks.

You have to obtain 3 votes on your thread to get a tracking number assigned to you bug report. Sometimes the community manager (Flak) does it manually for some people but most of the time it needs the 3 votes

FORT-1103805 has been created and its status is ‘Unconfirmed’. This is now in a queue to be reproduced and confirmed.

Here ya go :stuck_out_tongue: more visibility on stuff like this is always good IMO
