Is there a way to run UE4 with dx9 ? + Crashes on launch

I have intel hd graphics the worse graphics card ever mad…and It could run unreal engine 3 (udk) well with no lags, and now its not even launching unreal engine 4 :frowning: … Why do I need one of the best graphics cards to launch the program… :expressionless: im ok with lags im a programmer = no big scenes… I wont even need any more than 5 assets on my scenes.
you cant really expect everybody to have the one of the latest graphics card. I guess that running the engine with directx9 will solve the everything … I just want to know if its possible or should I give up on using UE4 ? since its not even launching.

Resulta que mi tarjeta soporta DX10.1 es posible que por eso me este funcionando UE4 :D, disculpen.

Hello,

The UE4 editor should run on DX11, DX11 level 10 API, and on the Mac OS 10.9.2. DX9, and DX9 class hardware are not currently supported for the editor as they would not allow you to use UE4 to it’s full potential, and you would be missing out on editor lighting features you really want (this is also why you see a great framerate in unlit, but your lit framerate is expensive).

If you are unable to run the editor after purchasing, please don’t hesitate to contact us for a refund: Unreal-Engine-Support für Hilfe und Kundendienstangelegenheiten besuchen - Unreal Engine .

I can’t wait to see what you guys build in UE4!

P.S. I believe that the new Nvidia 750 GT http://www.nvidia.com/gtx-700-graphics-cards/gtx-750ti/ should be a cheap card that runs UE4, however we have not tested it yet. so i can’t confirm.

Should you be expecting people to run with DX11 class HW, when they use UE4 to make a Tappy Chicken game, that runs on an iPad2?

I understand the ethos behind showing a scene to it’s full quality, yes the engine is awesome, but unlike other solutions out there, creating a scene from scratch in UE4, includes all kinds of post processing madness, that in some cases, is insane.

This is just an observation coming from years of development with other tools, including Unreal. The insanely good drive into the indie space by Epic, which is amazing, is going to throw up these kinds of issues.

I was having the same problem, and this fixed it.

OLD thread/answer, but I agree, they are going to be losing many by not allowing at least, a lower requirement 2d’ engine sessions.

Unity does.
My desktop is fine, but I’m not using it atm, and unity works even ( albeit slowly) on this HP dv9700.

Shame epic. If all you care about are power users, you’re not much of a engine/company.
