Is there a way to enable self shadow only without disabling virtual shadow maps?

Hi guys! I understand that you can use the checkbox self shadows only in a skeletal mesh blueprint, but it only works if you disable virtual shadow maps.
My question is, can I somehow disable my gun’s shadow casting on the ground, but also keeping self shadow on the gun?

Self shadow (as opposed to no shadow) looks a little bit better in different lighting (I don’t want to have my gun cast shadows on the ground, but I do want it to cast self shadow on itself) and I want to know if there’s another way to have a self shadow on my gun, without enabling the self shadow checkbox and also disabling virtual shadow maps for it to work?

Have you found a solution yet?

Running into this same issue :(. Trying to remove the cast shadow and have a fake shadow for a platformer, while keeping the self shadows on the character.

Disabling Virtual Shadow Maps significantly decreases the quality of the overall scene so that’s not an option

For each rendering engine feature Epic adds, we get exponentially more of these settings which affects absolutely nothing throughout all types of settings everywhere.

Are we supposed to subconsciously just “know” all of these thousands of quirks the engine has now?

Unreal Engine needs to stop for a second and dedicate an entire version to clean up this ever increasing mess with a Quality of Life version in the UI.
