Is there a plan to provide a MCP (Model Context Protocol) server

We plan to use Unreal Editor in association with LLMs. We may develop our own MCP (Model Context Protocol) server to interface the unreal python API, but we would like to know what are Epic plans to provide such MCP server in the near future?

I would see this feature designed like when we enable the “Python Developer Mode”: it would permit to generate a MCP server with access to the same API (including custom plugin exposed functions).

Steps to Reproduce

Hello, we are actively investigating MCP and are very interested in it but do not yet have any concrete plans around shipping a MCP server in the near future.

any update?

Nothing official, no

I appreciate the update. Even though there aren’t any concrete plans yet, it’s encouraging to know that Epic is investigating MCP. It would be much simpler to use LLMs with Unreal if there was an integrated MCP server. I’ll keep an eye out for updates.

@comlys hey! any plans to release mcp this year? Been using the official from Unity and its amazing, I hope we get one for Unreal soon

Thanks

Nothing official has been announced yet, but 5.8 is coming out this summer and could be of interest to you.
