Is substrate materials supposed to be used for games or mainly for video and rendering?

I am wondering if substrate is supposed to be used for games or if they primarily target video and image rendering?

For instance, how much higher is the cost of a substrate material compared to the traditional unreal engine material workflow?

Substrate cost is roughly equal to old materials when you aren’t taking advantage of the new features. It’s just more scalable and will allow for higher cost, more advanced materials as needed.

Old materials that are converted should have similar costs. But it can get quite a lot more expensive depending on what you’re doing.

Basically it seems to be intended for both games and film, its up to you to make sure its performant
