Hi there. I’m finally diving into advanced uses of Niagara fluid setups, both 2D and 3D. I was working with 5.3 for different projects, but recently switched to 5.4 and 5.5 for some R&D.
I just noticed some huge differences in the Niagara fluid template Grid2D_Gas_Color. This template was working perfectly in 5.3, with a beautiful liquid ink effect. But it seems the template as been modified for 5.4 / 5.5 and now it looks broken to me, with the most noticeable part is that the particles emitting ink are no longer soft circles but are now sluggish squares with an overall laggy result… (look at the screenshots, but the result is of course more noticeable live). Also it seems some other parts are missing / modified, with some options not accessible and so on…
Just a quick update and tips for anyone with the same problem:
I just migrated the template from 5.3 into 5.4, and it is working as expected! So for me the problem is the new version of the template shipped with Niagara Fluids in 5.4 / 5.5…
So while waiting for the fluid templates to be fixed in 5.4 / 5.5, you can still create a 5.3 project, activate the Niagara Fluids plugin and then migrate the templates to your 5.4 / 5.5 project.
Hi, i got same prob. Im trying to add effects on top of my mesh, however on my ue(5.5) there is no “sample mesh” component to advance. I even tried opening some other sample/example for niagara that contained mesh niagara rendering however they did not work correctly at all. Can someone check and see if reinstalling/updating would help or should i go back in versions?
