- Convert your videos to PNG or even JPEG sequences using Adobe Media Encoder, Resolve or whatever video program you regularly use.
- Create a “Img Media Source” in the content browser of UE. New > Media > Image Media Source
- Double click the Img Media Source and change the destination and Frame Rate based on your files.
- Create a Media Texture in your content browser. New > Media > Media Texture.
- Right click the media texture and create a material from it. (everything will be black till we set up in sequencer)
- Put your material on something.
- Create a new sequence.
- Add a media track in sequencer. Track > Media Track. You will see the name of the Image Media Source you created.
- Right click on the media track in sequencer. Go to properties and set the media source and texture to what you created.
- Now as you scrub the timeline you should see your video.
Depending on your video resolution and computer hardware this playback may be choppy. It won’t be when actually rendering out of sequencer though… Typically I’m working with 4K video and while testing I’ll make low resolution proxy footage of my videos then I’ll switch the proxies to highres when I render out of sequencer.
