Is it possible to replicate stain decals in UE5 without specifying per-material decal responses?

I am attempting to make a decal with a multiplicative blend. However, I am aware that the “stain” blend mode has been removed in UE5.

I’m unsure if I am reading this section from the UE5 docs correctly, but if I am, does that mean UE5 removes functionality present in UE4 that cannot properly be replicated?
Surely there is a way to use some form of multiplicative blend on decals without having to specify that decal response for every. single. material. right?
