I had an idea for a little game that played on the desktop of the computer and was wondering if it was possible to render to the desktop wallpaper or behind the icons. I don’t want to block regular desktop usage, but I would like to have the graphics show up on the screen.
IE/ Animated wall paper, clippy, tamagatchi.
should be possible, but not easy “very hard to do” , just by reading final render target of ue4 engine running on background and than update buffered picture as wallpaper but it would be CPU costly “i think”, inputs should also run at background .
i think your idea is nice, but not very common, practical & conductive to use with one of the most complex c++ gaming engines in world & also it is a bit performance heavy for what you gonna try to do.
