I’m not an expert on this stuff, but buying a server is a good idea if you are planning on hosting a large game, like an MMO or a lot of smaller servers for your game.
But servers can also be used to run websites, login systems, etc.
I can’t really say unless I know what you intend to use it for. Your question is quite vague.
Even then, I wouldn’t purchase my own box. Get a VPN from somewhere, where they are professionally hosted and looked after, that will fair you better price and maintenance wise.

I basically want to have an online game like 10people in one game or a little more and it needs multiple games so for example 100persons can play in 10different ‘matches’.
In which case I would look into a VPN/Server hosted somewhere where its secure, and well maintained. Hope I helped
