Is 11+ Hours for Mask Export Normal?

Hello everyone,

I’ve been following the process outlined in this tutorial to export masks from RealityCapture. I’ve made sure to follow all the steps correctly, but I’m experiencing extremely long export times—over 11 hours.

For reference, here are my specs:

  • GPU: RTX 4080 Super Gaming OC
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G
  • RAM: 32GB
  • OS: Windows 11 Pro

During the process, I noticed that my memory usage kept increasing, and I suspect that either the RAM was being continuously dumped onto my 1TB SSD or some temp files were created, eventually taking up over 120GB of space. The process automatically stopped when I had only 20GB of free space left. Additionally, the masks were only partially complete—for example, I had masks for images 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 15, but no mask was generated for image 8, and so on.

Interestingly, after I closed RealityCapture, my SSD space returned to normal, so it seems like the temp files were automatically deleted.

Is this behavior normal? Has anyone else encountered this issue, or is there something I can do to optimize the process? Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hi, this does seem unusual; how many images do you have, and what resolution are they?
