Interchange plugin cannot import/reimport while using New Editor Window

We are having issues importing/reimporting meshes using the New Editor Window (PIE) while the Interchange plugin is enabled. If the Interchange plugin is disabled, static meshes be imported/reimported while in PIE.

We would like to use Interchange but this bug is causing an interruption to the workflow at my studio. I’m currently on Version: 5.7.2-35716.

Steps to Reproduce
While in PIE, import a static mesh, the interchange option window will open, after clicking import, Unreal will generate the Uasset but there is no mesh visible/present. Only after exiting PIE mode can I reimport and see the mesh. Attached is a screenshot of an asset that that i imported while PIE is running.

Reimporting a static mesh while in PIE also does not refresh the mesh until exiting PIE and clicking reimport again.

Unfortunately, this is known limitation of our importers. The issue is already logged in our system and will be addressed in a future release.

We have not done an analysis of what it would take to allow import/reimport while PIE is running.

This is not a trivial addition which may require changing APIs. In that case, it could not be a hotfix.

We will know more after looking into it.
