Instanced foliage actor killing fps

I’ve got an instanced foliage actor thats using meshes from the kite demo, it seems to be badly affecting my game fps, particularly on low end hardware, how can I reduce this.

Atm I’m hitting 10 fps and obviously need to triple that, would really appreciate some ideas, I can’t seem to find any shadow settings which would be my first port of call, although I think A LOT MORE needs to be done to remedy the issue.

Would really appreciate some help!
