Hi there @IXWIND,

Hope you’re well and having a great week so far!

The world you’ve created here reminds me so much of Path of Exile. The actual gameplay, however, looks absolutely brilliant. It’s clear a lot of hardwork has gone into make this project charming and immersive - and it definitely shows. How long were you developing Trail of Ayash?

Thank you! We worked slightly more than two years on this, but we had to do it in our free time, because of university and later our personal work. It was our first project in Unreal Engine when we started and didn’t know anything about it, and now we are working with this full-time.

What an incredible job for two years of work. Especially for a first project. If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your favorite part of the project?

When we started this project we were just playing with Blueprints and adding all heavy stuff in the event tick and overusing pointless casts without using interfaces or dispatchers. From that we slowly gained a knowledge and reduced tons of memory usage by starting to use other frameworks, plugins, interfaces and ended up even writing own C++ code with own plugins. My personal favourite part is just a visible progress and knowledge that allowed me to work in this industry full-time. For the project itself even if it doesnt look spectacular like AAA productions I see how much I changed and understood game designing as a whole process from a newbie after economic university to the person who pushed his first game into Steam.

I love asking that question because you get to see where the passion in the project went. Especially when its something as meaningful as literally “understanding game design”. Thanks for taking time to answer and I look forward to taking a peak into this game a bit more
