really nice, thanks epic for this awesome release!
This is so cool. So happy with it :). What I’ve noticed so far:
- TXAA replaced with a compatible temporal AA method like SMAA (at least on AMD GPUs)
- Lead Character is called Carrier (is this a name in the US? Can’t think of a narrative use for it) and sometimes abbreviated to CAR
- Enemies are called COG
- There’s two types of animations - 1) prototype anims (nice these are here… include the start/end of the Motionbuilder captures) 2) Final / Matinee-used anims that are prefixed Shot_
- The anim which includes the face mask is Shot0210_Carrier and is bone driven (as are much of the face)
- Facial BlendShapes/MorphTargets for brow etc don’t seem to update (perhaps they’re baked and overriden)
- Game for me on an r290 tri X (in editor) gives me about 15-30fps. Neither the GPU or CPU look bottlenecked according to AfterBurner. Though i’m sure it’s not telling me the true story.
- Doing a packaged build to test perf. I have a feeling my CPU may be the true issue as i’m on an i7 920 @2.6GHz (also will try with it OC’d to 3.8GHz - my usual OC)

If you’re talking about the hanging… I waited easily an hour for it on 95% (I have 18GB of RAM). Check your task manager, you’ll see tonnes of shadercompiler.exe nodes. Even after it opened it still had to compile 3400+ shaders. Now it’s fully open it uses 13GB of RAM. This thing is a beast

This thing is dumb. Making a project file that freezes the entire computer and black screens it, resulting in an unforced restart and Microsoft popups is just bad.
Epic i gotta say thank you so much. These releases teach me so much about your engine. How is it that this thing can operate so smoothly for me at 3000 drawcalls that yoru scene has… yet my scene with 1000 has lots of lag spikes and frame rate issues? like this scene on my work computer gets 30 fps, but my scene on my work computer normally also gets around 30-50. Your scene seems so much more complex… my shaders are pretty standard … nomal, roughness, metallic… just textures plugged in… bunch of variations on that with material instances. Any special tricks your employing to minimize frame rate?
Thanks epic for this gift!
I have a win 7, 24 gig ram, an Intel x5650 cpu and a 970 4 gig card. In editor the texture streaming never stops. Not sure why. Also it did take a while to get past 95 percent the first time loading it. A lot of the textures are streaming in pretty blurred. I also cant get the screw explosion to play at all in cascade not sure why. Today when opening it… it seems to be only taking 12 gigs of ram rather 20 and there is a lot less texture streaming happening however there are still portions that have low quality textures happening. Mostly outside. Some of the muzzle flashes are also appearing as straight up cards like there alpha is not working correctly.
i tried the demo, impressive ! thanks again epic, i will learn a lot from this demo!

feldy, you have your video drivers updated ?
I can confirm it does open, even on not Super High End PCs, it just takes a big while. In my case it took 2 hours 35 minutes to open completely, with 95% of RAM filled and 11.5 GB of paging.
My specs are:
Intel Core i7-870 CPU
8GB RAM
GTX-760 graphics card
I have not tried to work on it yet though, had to restart my PC after it opened, because it was almost completely . I’ll report back when I test it. Thanks again guys for the awesome project!
stuck on 95% for 30+ minutes
Give it up to an hour at 95% depending on your system. It’s worth the wait Don’t forget to set r.Streaming.Poolsize to 1500 or more if you’re having the “streaming textures” stuck issue. Running in DX12 mode is unstable but everything seems faster. If your card can handle it set Screen Percentage 150% or 200% for “extra super duper quality”

I would happily give it the entire night to load, but it crashes my computer - so what’s a boy to do?
huh Don’t know what to say guys. I’ve been dreaming about Infiltrator for a long time. And now you made that dream come true ! Thank you EPIC.
Because DX12 a bit outdated, but very good choice and nice too see how in those days was made, thanks!

Do you mean DX11? DX12 works but it’s quite unstable in the Infiltrator project. In any case I think the scene in DX11 is still excellent. It’s my favourite Epic Games asset right now.

thanks alot. solved my issues. looks amazing now
I have a Core i7 laptop with 8GB ram with a not worth mentioning gpu. I just wanted to say that if you have low specs machine like this, the editor will open but it will take a very long time. At the end committed memory in Task Manager was 17GB/23GB on a 8GB machine.
The first thing I did was create a new empty level in Project Settings > Map & Modes and set default map to the new empty level. Now the project opens instantly.
It is good
