I’m just wondering how I can increase the tessellation to my landscape so I can have more fine sculpting. Currently it’s kind of blocky similar to Minecraft, although not nearly that extreme. In UDK it was pretty simple to increase the tessellation when editing a terrain.
Currently this is not possible in UE4. However we do have a feature request for this in the future. Unfortunately I do not have an adequate timeframe on release for this feature.
Unfortunately the only way you will be able to affect the landscape tessellation currently is to import a static mesh landscape from an external program in which you set the vertices as you desire beforehand. There isn’t anything comparable at this moment inside of UE4.
It is possible in 4.4 version to change landscape mesh tesselation.
In your mesh go to Manage.
Click the Selection icon (it is a rollout) and choose instead Change Component Size.
Set the Resize Mode to Resample.
Change the Sections Per Component and/or Section Size to suit, and press Apply.
Note - if you are in wireframe mode when you do this you can visually see the
updated tesselation to gauge density. If you overdo it, you may get massive lag.
