Static spot lights in reflections cause this black “balls”. When i put spot lights to stationary or movable this “balls” disappear. Is it a Bug? Or how can i use static spotlights without this black balls?
Hi Teammax,
Unfortunately, I’m not able to reproduce this in a simple scene I’ve setup using basic settings.
Using your image I’ve tried a couple of different ways to see if I could reproduce, but I’m not sure I have enough information to proceed any further. In the image, I made the assumption that the spot lights under the light fixture are causing the issue with reflection captures/screen space reflections possibly.
- Can you provide more details about the lights settings, whether they are default or you’ve adjusted anything?
- Can you if you change the light to stationary/movable do you still see the same issue?
- Can you reproduce this in a new scene with just basic assets, and a similar setup? If so any details would be helpful.
Thank you!
Tim

Couldn’t answer this questions in time and the questions was set to resolved. But it is not.
- About the light settings. They are mostly default. Here are the changes i made in BaseLightmass.ini: NumHemisphereSamples=64 IndirectPhotonDensity=1200 IndirectIrradiancePhotonDensity=600 IndirectPhotonSearchDistance=180 World settings: Static Lightning Level Scale 0.3 Num Indirect Lightning Bounces 20 Indirec lightning quality 10 Indirect lightning smoothness 1.1
Lights Static (Movable and Stationary Lights do not cause this problem)
(see pictures below)

When i change light from Static to Movable or Stationary the issue disappears and all reflections are correct (but i need static lights not movable)

Here i represent the same issue in a new scene. Mirror wall, ceiling, floor and side walls. 1 picture: 3 spot lights in Static cause 3 black dots in reflections 2 picture: 3 spot lights set in Stationary, Movable and Static. Static causes black dot in reflection.
Here are my results using your settings and a simple room setup in a blank project with the adjusted Lightmass settings.
I setup three spot lights. From closest to furthest they are Static, Stationary, and then Movable.
I’m not seeing any artifacts at all in my setup.
Are you able to reproduce this outside of your project in a new project and with basic assets like your simple reflection wall?
If so, can you attach that project here and I’ll have a look. Maybe at that point I can see what’s going on better than trying to reproduce and failing to get the same result you have.
Thank you!
Here is an example of this problem! here there are many dots from static lights! Also i send you zip with this scene.
In this file this dots are not looking big but it my scene (1 picture of the question) they are very big. i think it depend on the size of reflective actor, and radius of the reflection sphere. But i hope you can fix that and remove them at all!

If set this spotlights to movable or stationary you will see, that this dots disapear.
Testing this in your project I’m able to reproduce this. However, in a fresh blank project 4.11 I cannot reproduce this. This looks like it’s been resolved internally and should be available once this version is released.
Here is my latest attempt in our 4.11 build.
I used a lot of static spot lights this time since that was the easiest way to see the issue in your project, but it’s not showing up in my newly created one. This is using default settings in lightmass and the light aside from changing it to static only. I’m also using a sphere and box reflection capture for this test.
Once 4.11 is released or starts the previews here in the near future, give it a shot and see if you’re seeing the same. If so, feel free to post back here and I can investigate further.
Thank you!
Thank you very much for your work on this issue. Hope this problem is resolved in 4.11. Waiting for this release!
