Incorrect Bush Static Mesh used on the bush Blueprint in Multiple Galleries

Summary

In certain galleries introduced in Chapter 4, the “BigBush” prop uses a Static Mesh that is inaccurate to its thumbnail. This is because the mesh for the Big Bush blueprint was updated some time during Chapter 5 (likely the launch of Fortnite Reload).

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Navigate to one of the Chapter 4 Big Bush props, they can be found here:
    /All/Fortnite/Props/Eclipsed Estate
    /All/Fortnite/Galleries/Nature/Chapter 4 Nature Gallery Autumn
  2. Observe the thumbnails of the bush props,
  3. Place them in the world and notice the static mesh is not the one portrayed by the thumbnail.

Expected Result

The Chapter 4 Big Bush uses the Chapter 4 Big Bush mesh.

Observed Result

The Chapter 4 Big Bush uses the Chapter 5 / Reload Big Bush mesh.

Additional Notes

Important technical notes about the issue:

This happens because the Nanite LOD for the Big Bush mesh that has been used since Chapter 2 was updated some time around the release of Reload, and despite all of the different prop assets, there is only one Big Bush blueprint used for most of them. (/Game/Athena/Apollo/Environments/BuildingActors/Foliage/Apollo_BigBush)

Since editing the mesh this uses or editing the Apollo_BigBush blueprint would change the appearance of the Chapter 5+ props as well as its appearance in all Fortnite gamemodes, this issue would likely be best solved by making a UEFN / Creative-specific “FNEC” blueprint that is simply a child of the “Apollo_BigBush” blueprint with a Static Mesh change.

FORT-1047599 has been created and its status is ‘Unconfirmed’. This is now in a queue to be reproduced and confirmed.
