Inconsistencies in Nanite Foliage Voxel rendering distance

One major issue we have noted with voxels is the sheer inconsistencies of distance from camera in which the voxels will start to render. I’m aware that it is largely based on the scale of the nanite clusters and ultimately is tied to the simplifaction process, however the fact is that certain elements of an object may begin voxelization extremely early while other parts much later, despite similar topology and triangular density.

Is there any good explanation as to why this is the case?

In the example below, the trunk parts gets voxelized within 1-2 meters, while the leaves not until at least 20 or so meters. This makes it practically impossible to use voxels if something like WPO as it’s impossible to time the disabling correctly to avoid the ghosting voxels.
