There are many tutorials online on how to import xgen grooms via an alembic file such as:
This works perfectly fine on desktop of course but when I try to enable the Groom plugin and deploy to iOS I get errors compiling the metal shaders (specifically it fails to compile “ShadowDepthVertexShader.usf”), this is with no grooms actually imported this is just with the plugin enabled.
Before I go too far down the rabbit hole trying to get this to work does anybody know if this is going to be technically possible? Is there some metal specification limitation that is going to prevent this from ever working? What would need to be done to get this to work on iOS?
