Importing a model with multiple texture slots

Hi there,

Out of interest how do you add more than one texture slot to an imported model? Is this to do with multiple UVs applied to it from within a modelling program?

Thanks

Hey!
You have to apply multiple materials in youor modelingprogram. Each material will be one textureslot in the UE4.

Hi Ergoproxy,

There are a couple of ways to go about doing this, but this largely depends on the modeling application you’re using.

I’m really only familiar with 3Ds Max and Maya, though.

In 3Ds Max you can use a Multi-Sub-Object material and assign this to your mesh. You can then assign your polygons a material ID that will use the material assignment in the Multi-Sub-Object material.

In Maya you can apply your materials directly to the polygons you want them to work with.

This can only be done in your modeling application and you cannot create new material slots in UE4 for your static meshes.

You also, do not need to use multiple UVs for this. You can use a single UV with overlapping faces if needed so long as each polygon group material ID.

I hope this helps.

Brilliant! Thank you
