Assets

Summary

Models or Characters with Material/Textures appear normally on PC when in a live session and inside the unreal editor, however when viewed on PS5 in a live session, the texture does not render or appears grey.

Steps to Reproduce

  • Import a model or asset into a UEFN on a Rocket Racing Competitive Template
  • Make that model a BPP (add animations if needed)
  • Ensure your material is applied correctly
  • Save, Check in Changes and open a live session to view on PC
  • Then close that session, and then open the session on a PS5 Console

Expected Result

The material should render the same throughout all platforms to provide a consistent aesthetic experience for players.

Observed Result

The material does not render the same throughout all platforms and provides players who are on console an experience that is not consistent with what is displayed in the Unreal Editor.

Additional Notes

I have experienced this in my most recent map release, and it is displayed in the trailer created for it here:

The Stellar skin is shown dancing, however her material/texture does not render.
This trailer was made on a PS5.

I just wanted to update this to show a photo of what it looks like in the unreal editor window. You can clearly see the model’s texture, but it does not appear while live in session or even in the published game.
