Impact Decals on Translucent Materials/Simulating depth rendering on Translucent materials

I’m trying to get impact decals (e.g. bullet hole decals) to appear on a surface assigned with a translucent material.

Due to how translucent materials don’t render depth which decals needs to be projected, I am unable to do this.

I have tried using a opacity masked material on a plane for the impact instead a decal, but it overlaps past the edge of my surface if placed to close to the edge.
