Image capture interior rooms with clutter

I have been trying to capture images for an interior room with lots of clutter. I have used an iphone 16 pro and a lumix gh4 micro 4/3 with a Olympus 17mm f/1.2 ED PRO but didnt have quite enough light so i was not at iso 100 and not at f8. I aligned 385 images out of 500. so the room had some areas that had holes. Also the ceiling was missing a few areas. Would this improve with the better iso and f8. I need to add some light but the room is small. Could i add a flash on the lumix body like a godot V860III-O).

HI dbm2025,

Thanks for sharing the details about your capture setup. For cluttered interior rooms, RealityScan will usually give better results if the images are:

  • Well lit

  • Sharp across the whole frame

  • Shot with consistent exposure and lighting

  • Captured while avoiding shiny or reflective surfaces as much as possible

  • Captured while avoiding strong moving shadows between shots

The holes you’re seeing in the walls, ceiling, or cluttered areas typically come from a mix of:

  • Insufficient overlap/coverage
There are not enough images from different angles, especially those taken toward the ceiling and upper walls.

  • Motion blur/noise
Higher ISO settings, slow shutter speeds, or camera movement can reduce the number of features that RealityCapture can detect.

  • Low-contrast / flat surfaces
Plain ceilings or walls without much texture are harder to reconstruct, especially if they’re not well-lit.
