My competition entry got through to the finals of the Oculus Mobile Jam in the Experience category. I’m excited and can’t wait to find out the results
Since my app only worked on Gear VR and had to be optimised quite heavily to run on mobile hardware I thought I’d release a series of DK2 apps for everyone else to have a look at. By targeting higher end hardware I can afford to up the polygon count and increase lighting quality in UE4 quite a bit. I think the results of my first test are pretty good. The series will be called The Curator’s Collectibles and I’ve release the first one as a beta test on my site:
It would be great if anyone with a DK2 could download the installer from my website and report back here with what hardware they have and whether they got a solid 75fps throughout. Would love to hear whether you liked the experience too!
Once I’m happy that most people get a solid framerate, I’ll start to release some of the other models from the original Jam entry and complete the series. For those with Gear VR you can also try my Jam entry by downloading and installing the APK from the site. It’s called The Curator’s Mini-Museum of Natural History.
Hope you guys like it
