Ideas for how to do a mushroom cloud

Hey all.

I’ve been trying to think about how best to do a mushroom cloud effect for a game intro in UE4 and wondered if anyone had any ideas?

I don’t think it’d work quite well with particle effects. So I’m guessing a mesh based solution would be required?

Well, you could probably do something with subUV’s and a few emitters…but you’d want some really nice flipbooks to get close. There’s a lot of examples of this on the web. Search for what some folks have done with Maya’s fluid effects…

This is a good video to see FumeFx being used to create an explosion from the Infiltrator video. It’s not a tutorial but it should give you an idea and how to go about starting a flipbook animation for it.
