I want to re-design lighting just for one or two meshes

Hi!

Maybe there is already a way to do it.

I would like to re-design lighting just for one or two static meshes.
I had to change position of one after I designed lighting.
Now I have to design all level elements instead of that mesh -and the walls and floor around it-.
Is there any way to choose the option `design lighting just for the selected meshes´or similar?
Thanks in advance!

you can’t build the lighting for just one object because it doesn’t know how it might affect the lighting on other objects until it builds the lighting.

in UE3 there was an option to build the lighting only for selected objects, and it was great for previewing actual light-building of certain areas of the level without rebuilding everything

I don’t see why this cannot be part of UE4, and I have actually found myself missing this feature a few times already

You could do it, but you would still have a shadow where the object was previously

that’s fine, it’s still very very useful to preview single objects or small areas and not have to rebuild the entire level

One way of compartmentalizing would be splitting your level into smaller sublevels.
As lighting is done per level, rebuiling would be contrained to that sublevel.
Once you are finished tweaking, you can merge everything in a single level again.
