I need help with understanding Post-Processing functionality!

Hi everybody,

I can’t seem to figure out how to turn off post-processing effects when running a game in its own standalone window. When I shut off all of the post-process effects in the editor, it works, but as soon as I launch the game in its own window or another editor window, all effects are turned back up to 11, even when I have a PostProcessVolume disabled. This is making testing on a Mac, well, not very easy. :stuck_out_tongue:

And while I’m on the subject, how can I squeeze better performance out of UE4 on a Mac? I know just shutting off the post-process effects won’t do it, I’ve noticed that the default “null” material has some bump/normal mapping going on, is there anyway to shut that off to speed things up a bit?

Oddly enough, when I run the Blueprint third person demo, I get 40fps just fine, but when I created an empty map with only 4 objects and 3-4 lights, my fps was 25fps at best. What’s going on?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

When you disable them for the editor that’s only affecting them in the viewport. To fully disable them you will need to add a Post Process Volume to your scene and have it encompass the area you want to use. Then you’ll be able to disable/change any settings you feel are necessary. There are a lot of post processes that are set by default and can only be disabled by using this method.
