I have used a mesh data in the particle system for a candle flame and i can't rotate it in the viewport , any guess to why this may be happening?

Right click on the system in the particle setup and add ‘Orientation → Lock axis’

You have to fiddle with lock axis setting to get the effect you want:

i tried that too but still can’t rotate it . .

No worries, it really depends on the particle.

So, now try messing with the initial rotation. I’m thinking you want it lying down right? Then you need to set the initial rotation max and min to .25

Ok, then there’s yet another module, called something like ‘rotation over life’ or something ( not at a system right now. ) But you probably can’t sync that with the mesh.

Maybe putting them both in a blueprint and manipulating the initial rotation angle from the BP?

EDIT: I looked at this a bit more.

You either need to put the lighter mesh into the particle system, as a mesh particle. Or you could try parenting the particle to the lighter mesh with a socket as described here:

i tried initial rotation but it is like permanent rotation …i want to rotate realtime .
i’m trying to make a lighter fire , i have a animated lighter mesh and i want this fire to be follow that lighter mesh and rotate as the lighter rotates .

pardon me for my late reply , i didn’t see the edit message , thank you for the directions but i made a separate flame with sprites and it works perfectly for me .
