Thanks for the update on this.
I just want to double check, did the troubleshooter tool from Microsoft at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed-cca7d1b6-65a9-3d98-426b-e9f927e1eb4d not work for you? If it did not, the only other way to try and remove any references to the old Datasmith plugin would be to manually locate the registry keys using the process below:
- Open the Registry Editor (Search for Registry Editor in the Window search)
- Select the Edit > Find (Ctrl+F) and write down the name of the plugin: Unreal Datasmith Exporter for SketchUp
- Select the associated Registry Key folder on the left and delete it.
- Search again for Unreal Datasmith Exporter for SketchUp to ensure nothing else is found.
- Then make sure to delete UnrealDatasmithSketchUp.rb and UnrealDatasmithSketchUp folder in the following locations
- C:\ProgramData\SketchUp\SketchUp 202X\SketchUp\Plugins
- You can then try to install the plugin again.
If that does not work and you are unable to locate the registry key, we'd need to look at the the installer's log files to find out where exactly it is failing. TO generate a log file, you need to do the following:
- Go to the windows search bar and type CMD
- Right-click and Open the Command Prompt app and click Run as Administrator
- Type CD\
- Press Enter
- Type the following: CD users\USERNAME\desktop (Replace USERNAME with your local user name)
- Press Enter
- Type: msiexec /i UnrealDatasmithSketchupExporter_X_XX_X.msi /lvx* Install_Log_SketchupDatasmith (Match msi name with current installer name downloaded)
- Press Enter
- Follow the install instruction and close the installer.
- A log file should have been created on the desktop
