I have a problem

Hello ..

When I work install

Unreal Datasmith SketchUp Exporter_5_2

This message appears, and there is no place on my device to delete the program, not even in regedit

Hi ,

Do you know what previous version of Datasmith you had installed on your machine? In some cases, installing the old version again, then uninstalling it fixes this. If you know what previous version you had installed, I can provide a link to that exact installer.

You can also try the troubleshooting tool in the Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed - Microsoft Support article if you don't know the exact version of Datasmith you used. usually, this should be able to find and remove registry entries that may have been improperly handled by the uninstaller before.

Best,

Raghib

I don't remember which version. Every time I download any version, I get the annoying message, and there is nothing to delete, not even the Windows Explorer tool that never finds the file.

I tried installing a new one same issue !!

Thanks for the update on this.

I just want to double check, did the troubleshooter tool from Microsoft at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed-cca7d1b6-65a9-3d98-426b-e9f927e1eb4d not work for you? If it did not, the only other way to try and remove any references to the old Datasmith plugin would be to manually locate the registry keys using the process below:

  • Open the Registry Editor (Search for Registry Editor in the Window search)
  • Select the Edit > Find (Ctrl+F) and write down the name of the plugin: Unreal Datasmith Exporter for SketchUp
  • Select the associated Registry Key folder on the left and delete it.
  • Search again for Unreal Datasmith Exporter for SketchUp to ensure nothing else is found.
  • Then make sure to delete UnrealDatasmithSketchUp.rb and UnrealDatasmithSketchUp folder in the following locations
  • C:\ProgramData\SketchUp\SketchUp 202X\SketchUp\Plugins
  • You can then try to install the plugin again.

If that does not work and you are unable to locate the registry key, we'd need to look at the the installer's log files to find out where exactly it is failing. TO generate a log file, you need to do the following:

  • Go to the windows search bar and type CMD
  • Right-click and Open the Command Prompt app and click Run as Administrator
  • Type CD\
  • Press Enter
  • Type the following: CD users\USERNAME\desktop (Replace USERNAME with your local user name)
  • Press Enter
  • Type: msiexec /i UnrealDatasmithSketchupExporter_X_XX_X.msi /lvx* Install_Log_SketchupDatasmith (Match msi name with current installer name downloaded)
  • Press Enter
  • Follow the install instruction and close the installer.
  • A log file should have been created on the desktop

Best,

Raghib

Thanks for replying and following up ..

Yes, I downloaded the file from the Microsoft site

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed-cca7d1b6-65a9-3d98-426b-e9f927e1eb4d

This is its content

This is it

I hope to help thanks

Thanks for the log file.

The log mentions that HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Installer\Products\C0DB33D05374A6243960628333BEDF0B\SourceList appears to be where the problem is originating. Can you try locating this Key C0DB33D05374A6243960628333BEDF0B and deleting that and all of its sub keys? Once that's done, it should hopefully allow you to run the installer again and that message should no longer appear.

If the error doesn't go away, please generate a new install log file and I can see whether the information inside has changed to point to another possible source for the problem.

Best,

Raghib
