I am unable to install Unreal Engine through the Epic Games Launcher

Summary

Under Unreal Engine > Library, the Engine Versions section is completely empty. The “+” button is greyed out, and clicking “Install Engine” does nothing.

I am currently using Epic Games Launcher version 20.3.6 on Windows 11.

The Launcher log repeatedly contains the following entries:

EoshState = WaitingForBuildsAndItemFiles
LoadItemFiles: Loaded 0 item files
LogCommunityPortalOSS: …found 0 entitled apps

I have also attempted to add and launch the Game Animation Sample to force the Unreal Engine catalog to refresh, but this did not resolve the issue.

Steps to Reproduce

Launch Epic Games Launcher on Windows 11.

Sign in to the Epic Games account.

Open the Unreal Engine section.

Go to the Library tab.

Scroll to the Engine Versions section.

Attempt to click the “+” button next to Engine Versions or the “Install Engine” button.

Observe that the “+” button is disabled and no Unreal Engine versions are displayed.

Attempting to create and open a sample Unreal Engine project also fails because no Unreal Engine installation is available.

Expected Result

The Engine Versions section should display available Unreal Engine versions. Clicking the “+” button or “Install Engine” should allow the user to select and install a supported Unreal Engine version.

Observed Result

The Engine Versions section is empty. The “+” button is greyed out and the “Install Engine” button does not start an installation.

The Epic Games Launcher log also reports:

EoshState = WaitingForBuildsAndItemFiles

LoadItemFiles: Loaded 0 item files

LogCommunityPortalOSS: …found 0 entitled apps
