I’m very new to this in general, but I have some very mild experience in unreal engine 5. I want to use the spline system to create my course still, but make the look of the course unique with unlit, solid colors. I think the materials might be locked on the template because they don’t appear that way when I go into playtesting.
So pardon me if this is a really simple thing to figure out, but I couldn’t find anything in the documentation about changing out materials like this with Fortnite’s pre-existing assets, if it’s even possible. Thanks in advance if you can help me out!
Hi Brawler, Welcome to the Forums.
Good question. I’m not aware of any way to change the track materials yet, but I think eventually we’ll be able to create ‘Palette’ data assets.

That’s a shame, honestly. I could PROBABLY do it myself in Blender, but it makes it kinda hard to really test subtle changes that way. I want it to look cool, but more importantly, I want it to be driveable by most people without having to practice the jank hahaha
Using the Spline Meshes in the Landscape tool could be a path forward. But I think you still might need to have the “Rocket Racing” spline hidden or underground since there is logic for resetting the player if they get too far from the track.
Let us know how it goes if you give that a try.
Just bumping and asking again if there is any official way to change the materials on the RR tracks or to create our own Theme/palettes for the tracks.
I’m asking because I’ve played maps with custom materials and it seems like they are the usual tracks with a custom material.
Is there anyway to access the default palette and make an instance of it to modify it?
