I’ve seen answers to this question for UE 4, but when I try and press v, nothing happens (I’m trying in combination with middle mouse button). Is the feature just not implemented yet or am I missing something?
It got changed to Alt+V
So every time you want to snap the pivot of an object to a vertex, you need to duplicate the object… Fun stuff.
Hello Oreo,
I was ‘following’ this thread for some reason, so I got notified of your response.
Both messages above are wrong.
Vertex snapping is enabled by holding V (not just pressing), Middle mouse is for something different - you’d use middle mouse to temporarily move the mesh origin. (Use built-in modeling tools to permanently change origin)
Holding Alt and dragging anything will create a duplicate object. (sounds like the problem/confusion you’re having)
Is this still an issue in 5.6.1? I tried everything possible with the vertex snapping but it just won’t work.
I try to snap a socket inside the static mesh editor/viewport to a vertex of a mesh. But it just won’t snap to it. Doesn’t work when MMB, Enabling vertex snap or whatever. Even when I use Alt + V to show the green boxes around the vertices it won’t snap.
The mesh is also not a nanite mesh… which I thought might led to the snapping issue.
Edit (Solution): Of course when I created a post about it, I accidentally managed to figure out how it’s working. First I enable Vertex Snapping (using Alt + V), then I just select my Socket I want to move and I click on the target vertex, basically the green cube (no need to press anything). This will snap the socket to the target vertex. If I recall correctly, in the past you still had to move the gizmo in order to snap it. But apparently that got changed.
