From some searching around it seems like in the past, you were able to tweak the quality of the field with variables connected to AO, such as r.AOGlobalDFResolution
. These don’t seem to have any effect anymore in UE 5.3 Preview 1.
Which variables control the resolution of the global distance field, the number of clipmaps, and the size of the region a clipmap covers?
Update: Interestingly, I can see that the AO-related variables still work in 5.2.1. Is this a bug?
Update 2: It’s not the version, but some project setting I haven’t been able to trace. I have one project where these variables have an effect, and I tried about 10 different other project configurations without being able to find a single working one.
Update 3: Tweaking these values breaks Niagara distance field modules. Rip.
