How to turn off the lights in Electric Dreams?

Very new to Unreal. Just want to see if I can make Electric Dreams a nighttime dark forest by turning off the lights and use a spotlight which can be attached to the camera to create a Blairwitch like found footage sequence?
Have tried turning off all the light sources but its giving me a very weird illumination result.

Hello Deva, Welcome to the Forums.

I see what you’re describing. (Looks very :sparkles:magical :sparkles:)

It’s not an issue though, maybe just some leftover data from global illumination. You can solve it by just clicking the Play-in-Editor button (Green Play button) or by navigating the camera away from the area and then back again.

Also, the only thing I needed to do to create “nighttime” was disable ‘Affects World’ on the directional light. (Less drama about broken references this way)

As a side note, you’ll probably want to change/clear the Game Mode in Project settings → Maps and Modes to use different characters/pawns.

Let us know if you have any more troubles setting up a first-person pawn with a spotlight on it!

Thanks for such a warm welcome! :sparkling_heart:

Yes disabling ‘Affects World’ works. Still there was lot of light leaking from somewhere or from leftover illumination. But it also reveals lot of areas in the forest with complete utter darkness. I can start from there.

Thank you so much!

Actually, just noticed, ‘navigating the camera away from the area and then back again’ is working as well. Don’t know why it wasn’t working earlier.
Thanks again.
