Hello, everyone! I’d like to start an up to date thread on how to troubleshoot crashing renders. I have a level sequence that is crashing on any computer I try to use to render it, including my very powerful Puget workstation (RTX4090). I was able to use the Render Graph to output directly to an H.264 MP4 with the Quick Render feature, but if I attempt to use the Movie Render Queue, it seems to crash no matter what I try. It’s not a particularly complicated sequence. There are three Cine Camera Actors, a few BP actors, two Niagara systems, a Post-Process volume, and that’s about it. There are three camera cuts, and the sequence is only around 12 second in duration. In my render config, I normally use EXR image sequences, but once that crashed several times I tried PNG and even JPG. All are crashing. I initially wanted a 4K image seuence, but I’ve tried lowering it to 1080p, and at various frame rates. I have an anti-aliasing override with only 8 temporal samples, and in my Game Overrides I’ve tried all three options with regard to how to handle virtual texture streaming. I should have plenty of warm-up frames (I think). I’ve done many, much more hardcore renders on this machine before, including path traced renders, but in earlier UE versions than 5.6.1. This project was made in 5.6.1, so I can’t downgrade. The only major difference here is that in this project I do have virtual textures enabled and virtual lightmaps. I don’t normally have those enabled for cinematics, but I am also doing something else in this project where they help. I did try increasing my r.Streaming.PoolSize in a CVAR in the MRQ, but it didn’t help. I’d love it if anyone can make some suggestions for me! Thanks in advance!
Ben
