How to show the main menu in a VR game

I’m newbie with VR development.

I’m developing a game and I need to create a main menu. I know that it must be a 3D object to show it in Virtual Reality and I know how to create a menu, because I did it before for other games.

My problem is that I don’t know how to show the main menu in front of the player. In other words, I have no idea about how to show the main menu in a VR game. Should it always be visible to the player or appear in one part of the screen? I’ve thought to show it always in front of the player, even if they turn their head.

How should the main menu be displayed?

Check out how this is done in other VR games. Sometimes the menus are displayed at a fixed place of the screen (with hints for the player to look into that direction), or they are ‘floating’ around the players field of view, following where the player is looking (like the HUD in the Ironman suit). Or they are displayed with a kind of a widged, that is somehow connected to one of the virtual hands (wrist displays, or radial menus).
