Hi all,
One of the features I was waiting for in the 5.2 release is Lumen support in VR. Ive been playing with it over the past few days but sadly, the performance has been painfully bad and the frames quite nauseating (1-2 frames per second when disabled ray tracing). Has anyone figured out how to set up a VR project with Lumen?
I converted a UE 5.1.1 VR project to the UE 5.2 preview and I can confirm that Nanite and Lumen are not working with VR. Please see the following example:
VR template stripped of most assets besides one mesh toggling between nanite on / off
Thanks, so it seems I shouldn’t have updated the engine and stayed with 5.1.1 after all
For me, Lumen is working in VR in 5.2, but I got 7fps in a project I converted from forward shading… so, not really feasible yet?
(Meanwhile, I’m seeing tings like this from Nvidia Omniverse where they say that their XR raytracing is “free”…)
EDIT: Just tried Omniverse XR. That 7fps project above from Unreal? I just dumped it straight into Omniverse and it ran at seemingly close to 90fps with full raytracing and zero optimization…
im having the same trouble. In the editor my level runs at 60fps when i try it in VR it goes to 5. How do you drop it in omniverse? with the connector?
