How to send/receive data to REST API or database

Anyone know how to send and receive simple text info to/from a REST API or database?

I’ve tried VARest and Fetch and can’t get either of them to work in VR. VARest fails to launch if I simply enable the plugin. Fetch gives compile problems. Iv’e contacted both authors and they’ve replied, but no solution yet.

I am using 4.25.4. Anyone have any success doing this ? I don’t care what method or product is used, I just want to get it to work. Preferably using Blueprints, but if it needs to be C++ as long as there are detailed directions that would be ok too.
