How to optimize MetaHuman animations?

I’ve set up a test scene with 64 characters all playing the same animation (anim mode: Use anim asset).

On test 1, I’ve used a MetaHuman character, set to LOD7. And here are the animation stats:

On test 2, I’ve used the default Mannequin. Stats:

On test 3, I removed the head (which has an anim bp), but it’s still slower than the Mannequin:

Why is MetaHuman so much slower even at LOD7, and how can I improve it?

In my case the large amount of animation curves on the metahuman skeleton were responsible for a large performance hit. Maybe the same problem here.

Thanks for the tip, we decided to postpone characters for a few weeks, I won’t check Solution yet in case someone else has other tips, but I’ll update here if that helps and what else we find out.

Did you ever address this? Having a similar issue
