How to make modular houses like Fortnite?

I watched this video about how they made the whole Fortnite island but they didnt mention how to make the modular homes. Do you know any video/tutorial about how to achieve the same result?

They arent modular. They merge actors and use those to create LODs.
At a distance, the house is always whole even if it was destroyed panel by panel.

So in essence, create whatever, select all the parts, merge actor, and use the result as the distance replacement.

You probably need a couple of managers to handle the replacemdnt system at a distance and the destruction of assigned components.

You could also try runtime mesh merge, if you have any c++ experience.
However for somerhing as underwhelming and underperforming as fortnite I doubt you have to think too hard.

So long as the individual panels are indexed, and you dont have a billion of them in view, it should perform ok.
