how to make blurry translucent material.

im doing an eye, and i want the tear line around the eye to be blurry.
exactly as here:
@43:26 Digital Humans: Crossing the Uncanny Valley in UE4 | GDC 2016 Event Coverage | Unreal Engine - YouTube

how to do this?

You can find the answer in this thread. However, what you are describing is probably better achieved by adjusting normals/roughness/specular of the eyeball material, where tear is supposed to be. Might be an overkill to devote a separate object for that.

I used the spiral blur node on a separate mesh for exactly what you wanna achieve jazvec, and it works nicely.

nice. any chance you have that material on hand?
edit: never mind. guy above linked your post with that material.
thanks a bunch both of you.

edit2:

what unreal version was this? i dont have the forward shading option in 4.12 and it doesnt work.

I used the latest version: 4.13.1.

Bumping this old post.

I can’t use forward shading as I need SSS on the skin… how do you get the Spiral Blur to work without forward rendering?
