How to make an emissive material work in UE5?

I follow the steps below:

  • I create a new project.
  • I create a sphere to which I add a 100% emissive material.
  • I build lightning, but it does not affect the scene.



Intel iMac, Radeon Pro. Lumen doesn’t work on Mac yet. This works withtout problems in UE4.

Looks like It’s not bright enough. Try 20 instead of 1.

It seems that the lightmap is created but not applyed.

Even in UE4, you have to tune some settings to get emissive object to emit static light

I assume it’s a double whammy in UE5, because the lighting is setup to be dynamic in the first place.

I think it’s a problem with the lightmaps, because global illumination doesn’t work either.
